We started using this play mat pretty much from the start. My son is now 6 months old and still absolutely loves it. This mat worked to calm our baby and still keeps him entertained. This was one of the best gifts we received. -- Essential for baby
I bought this playmat for my second son. I paid about $70 for mine, at the time, that was a good deal. It was still a little more than I wanted to spend. However, I am glad I bought it, my son loved it and from the time he was a couple of weeks old until last week (he is now 7 months old and getting ready to crawl) he used that mat several times every day! The music has volume control - which I love, and an option to stop playing until activated by the baby moving the poles. I never had to replace the batteries.
SO why the four stars? Well, the price is a little steep, even a drop to $55 would be more appropriate. Also, one of the poles would come out. Now, I do have a 2 year old, and he also liked to "play" with the mat, so it is possible that our mat got a little rougher play than most, but it was still something we had to keep an eye on. -- A little pricey but worth it!
I have twins so I have multiples of every toy known to man. We received a few different play gyms as gifts when the babies were born and this one is by far the best of the bunch. This play gym has 4 bars, not 3 like other gyms, which means more places to hang things. It lights up, plays music, and even has a motion-sensor option to encourage babies to learn cause and effect. The toys are all the perfect height for baby to reach and everything is very colorful and just adorable!
The only drawback is that the butterflies that hang under the lights don't spin around but I can live with that - means less batteries to change and pieces that can break.
For the current price (under $50) it can't be beat! Other units are $70-125 and don't have the features that this gym has! -- Have twins, have multiple play gyms, this is the best!
this item was bought for a 4mth old baby.. she just loves it... she spends hours just playing in there fascinated with the colors and sounds.
Very well constructed and easy to put together. -- Great Item for babies
When my daughter turned 7 weeks old, she started using this. She is now 4 months old and loves it. She spends hours a day playing with the animals and looking in the mirror. She now rolls over from her back to her tummy, and she is working on rolling back over. The mat really helps with tummy time and she is motivated to move from one side of the mat to the other. Sometimes she plays so hard she falls asleep on the mat. My husband and I call this the item of the month because we get so much use out of it (we called the swing the item of the month during her first month). -- This is where my daughter spends most of her time.
